"THE LORD HAS NEED," MATTHEW 21: 1-11, PASTOR MARVIN SPENCE
On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem as a triumphant victor on a borrowed donkey. We don’t know anything about the donkey’s nameless owner other than he was obedient to the Lord’s request. Our prayers reflect our daily needs and wants, such as problem-solving, grace and mercy. But how often do we ask what does the Lord need from us? The disciples were asked to make preparations for the Passover. We should be making preparations for the Lord’s return by giving a good account of what we have done in his name. Some may find it challenging or fear the burden of being known as his disciples. But scripture (Matthew 11:28-30) teaches u that in addition to lifting our heavy life’s baggage, the Lord provides spiritual rest from troubles. There is the added benefit of experiencing that whatever the Lord asks of us is “easy” because the Lord will equip and strengthen us to do what we are called to do.
