LIFE LESSONS FROM A DISHONEST MAN

Updated: Oct 18, 2019

LUKE 16: 1--13

Jesus does not condone sin, but He teaches us that we can learn and apply initiative, planning and goal setting skills just like the dishonest business manager. When the manager was confronted about his wasteful business practices and faced losing his job, the manager shrewdly "cooked the financial records" to advantage the customers. He hoped that this would generate customer goodwill, potential employment and a residence after he lost his job.

As "children of light" we need to develop our "Eternal Life Planning" strategies which includes goals of living a Christ-changed life; disciplining self by Scripture study, prayer, and life application; and developing talking points which confidently express the reason for our faith. Unlike the business manager our priority is neither just self nor the immediate future but making the Lord's will our prime directive and hoping to live again eternally with Him.
