"Honor Your Lease," Matthew 21: 33-46, Pastor Marvin G. Spence
When God has extended undeserved grace and mercy which upgrades our situation, we need to remember to praise God by living up to His Commands. Using the parable of the "Tenant and Landlord," Jesus was teaching those who said that they loved God to live what they profess. Like the Pharisees, we have to remember that where we came from was only because the Lord was on our side. When the Israelites came to Canaan, their lifestyle changed from slavery, living in huts and squalor to becoming homeowners because God gave them a land of milk and honey. We know and they certainly should have known that when God blesses us there is an expectation that we honor God as the priority, obey His Commandments and be a blessing to others. Sometimes there is a tendency to lash out, emotionally and intellectually disconnect, when we are reminded that we have shirked our responsibilities to the Lord. Instead of rebelling and rejecting the Lord, we should repent of our sinful ways and with Holy Spirit's help live as Christians should. In spite of us being habitual sinners with questionable character references God made provisions for us. Let us be good stewards over what the Lord has blessed us with because He is coming back.
