"Act Like You Got Some Class," 1 Thessalonians 2: 1-8, Pastor Marvin G Spence
When we profess our belief to live a Christian life-style, we also invite people to look at us and see if there is any difference between us and them. Do our responses remind others of Jesus or reflect a worldly response? Do we look out for number one and focus on getting as much as we can while we can? Do we display Christ-like compassion for others and seek opportunities to better the quality of life for others? Even in the worst circumstances (crucifixion), Jesus displayed unconditional love for his haters and tormentors, fearful disciples and even for those who didn't even know Him. What sets us apart is maintaining our Christian composure in spite of our challenges, fears, heartbreak, persecution and ridicule. A well-known and applicable Michelle Obama quote: "When they go low, we go high." We keep our faith and trust in the Lord as intercessor, provider and protector. As transparent Christians we are ever mindful that our words should reflect constructive love and our actions, compassionate tenderness. This is what sets us apart, placing us in a class unto ourselves which the world will be unable to understand unless we explain the reason for our belief and faith. Live up to your calling to be a "classy" Christian.
